052
A heater ignition failure is detected.
  1. Air duct
  2. Exhaust pipe
  3. Heater pump assembly
  4. Fuel pump filter (heater pump assembly)
  5. Power heater ECU (combustion heater assembly)

INSPECTION PROCEDURE

CAUTION:
  1. In some cases, the combustion heater, air duct and exhaust pipe are extremely hot. When performing the inspection, wear protective gloves and do not touch these parts with bare hands.
  2. When performing the inspection, wear a face mask to prevent direct inhalation of exhaust gas.

1.INSPECT FUEL PIPE
  1. Check that there is no fuel leakage between heater pump assembly and combustion heater assembly.

4.INSPECT HEATER PUMP ASSEMBLY
  1. Disconnect the A42 heater pump assembly connector.

    E176914E01
  1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    Standard Resistance:
    Tester Connection
    Condition
    Specified Condition
    1 (+B) - 2 (E2)
    Always
    9 to 12 Ω

  1. Inspect heater pump assembly operation.

    1. Connect the positive (+) lead from the battery to terminal 1 and the negative (-) lead to terminal 2, and check the pressure of the hose by hand.

      CAUTION:
      1. This inspection must be done quickly (within 10 seconds) to prevent damage to the heater pump assembly.
      2. Always switch the voltage on and off on the battery side, not the heater pump assembly side.
      3. Keep the heater pump assembly as far away from the battery as possible.

      OK:
Pressure is applied to the hose.

  1. Reconnect the heater pump assembly connector.
